A project we have known about for many years, ever since the Sea Shepherd’s high-tech speedboat, the Ady Gil, was sunk by a whaling vessel. It was an incredible blow to the organization, but fortunately, it also brought them significant visibility.
We personally consider Sea Shepherd to be a unique project, showcasing the dedication of a team fighting for the respect of the ocean and its wildlife.
Sea Shepherd is an international non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation and the protection of marine life and their habitats. Founded in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd is known for its direct and sometimes confrontational approach to stopping illegal activities in the oceans, such as whaling, illegal fishing, and the destruction of marine ecosystems.

Sea Shepherd focuses on protecting marine life and enforcing international maritime laws that are often not applied or ignored. Its main objectives include:
- Protecting marine biodiversity: Ensuring the preservation of endangered species and the balance of marine ecosystems.

- Direct Intervention: In operations against whaling, their crews have blocked whaling ships, thrown deterrent devices, and used maneuvers to obstruct hunting operations.
- Educational Campaigns: Sea Shepherd also participates in raising public awareness, inspiring people to take an active role in ocean protection.
Notable Achievements and Campaigns
- Operation Icefish: In 2014-2015, Sea Shepherd launched a campaign to stop illegal Patagonian toothfish fishing in the Antarctic Ocean. They succeeded in arresting and seizing several illegal fishing boats.
- Campaigns in the Faroe Islands: They fight against the traditional hunting of dolphins and pilot whales, known as « grindadráp. » Although it is a cultural practice, Sea Shepherd exposes the cruelty of this activity to raise awareness.
- Operation Miracle: This campaign focuses on protecting the vaquita in the Gulf of California, a species critically endangered. Sea Shepherd removes illegal fishing nets to prevent this porpoise from getting caught in them.
